Retail leasing FAQ8: My landlord wants me to move to a different location. Do I have to?
My landlord wants me to move to a different location. Do I have to?
- If the lease contains a relocation clause and the lessor meets the criteria for that being invoked, then yes, you must relocate
- There are provisions in the retail legislation around where you can be relocated to and what rent can be charged at the new location
- The Landlord must also cover all reasonable costs incurred in relocating
- Can be a very positive experience if both parties act reasonably and in good faith
